ROADWORKS!!

Hi.  You might have noticed that the largest trunk road improvement scheme in the UK at the moment is the widening of the A1 to motorway standard between Leeming Bar and Barton (the A1L2B Project)- which obviously includes the stretch on the final part of your journey to Middleton Lodge. Up until now, it’s just meant that you have a 50mph section at the end to contend with- and a few ‘variable’ diversions.

So here’s the Bad News:

Highways England have chosen THIS WEEKEND to demolish the Kneeton Hall Bridge- of Kneeton Lane- which is the road passing Middleton Lodge! They will be

  • ‘tidying up’ Kneeton Lane from 8am to 4pm on the Friday
  • closing entirely the A1 from 8pm on Saturday to 2pm on Sunday.

It is quite possible that Kneeton Lane will be part of the diversion route…

Nonetheless, here’s the Good News:

The lovely stakeholder liaison people at Highways England (at the request of  Middleton Lodge) have sent us a map showing ALL the closure and diversion plans (below).

They have also offered to draw up an alternative route plan for our guests, which us very kind.  We will upload this here as soon as we have it.

Finally, there is also always A Silver Lining:

There will be noise from the demolition of the bridge, which whilst we are very unlikely to hear a thing, will increase the ‘ambient noise’ in the area, making WedFest almost indiscernible!
